Best Audience: Horse-lovers who want to find a healthier connection with their Horse friends and those are interested in deeply healing stories of animal communication
When I happened across The Tao of Equus: A Woman’s Journey of Healing and Transformation through the Way of the Horse by Linda Kohanov, I was eeeking a deeper understanding of the nature of horses. Like cats, I’ve always loved horses but have never lived closely enough to them to really begin to understand how they think. I’d hoped Kohanov’s work would offer me insight. She offered more than I expected.
Kohanov’s story is one of miraclous healing inspired by animal communicaiton, dreamwork, intuition, and a while lot of tranformation. In telling her story, she offers insightful thoughts on how to look at life in a while new light. Not all of us need to suffer to learn many of the same lessons she’s so artfully illustrated here. I enjoyed how her story was woven into the lives of the Horses and even moreso how the Horses helped her heal the shakey, dark, and painful places.
If you’re looking for a heartfelt memoir that’s inspirational The Tao of Equus: A Woman’s Journey of Healing and Transformation through the Way of the Horse by Linda Kohanov is a good choice. It is, too, if you learn well by listening to stories and want to learn more about the culuture of the Horse people and how to better work with them on their level. For me, Kohanov’s book isn’t necessarily one I’ll read and re-read, but it surely is one I’ll recommend…and quite possibly loan out or gift to friends and students who are ripe for learning the Way of the Horse.
Bottom Line: The Tao of Equus: A Woman’s Journey of Healing and Transformation through the Way of the Horse by Linda Kohanov has earned a place on my bookshelf, although I expect one day to gift it to the right someone.
