Learn How To Spin A Story

This weekend, Grandmother Spider whispered in my ear.

“It’s time,” she said. “To share my favorite tool with your People.”

If you’ve perused my Tools menu, you’ll have noticed I’ve been slowly working on expanding what’s there. I’ve added further resources and stories to many menu items, though I still have a few to expand yet. I added an entry for Writing with links to resources and ideas of how to use the various forms of writing I practice for growth and transformation. I’ve also added a how-to do Story Spinning. That, of course, would be what Grandmother Spider asked me to share.

spider-564635_1280Story Spinning is a technique I’ve used for transforming the substance of my life. It can be potent medicine. I hesitated for a long time in sharing the technique. Too easily, it can go in unexpected directions. If you’re not ready for that, it can make for a rocky ride that feels like everything you wanted has been destroyed, much like the Tower card experience from the Tarot. If you’re open to the experience, it can be utterly amazing. I reckon that you can ask for or make provisions in your Story Spinning for change to be gentle and paced so it works for you. I haven’t tried that myself, but it stands to reason that it would work.

I imagine Grandmother Spider chose this particular time for someone specific, though it’s probably foolish at best to try to guess her motives. If you give Story Spinning a try and want to share your experience with me when the project is through, I would love to hear about your experience. Whether you choose to share it with me or not, I wish you luck on your journey!
