Best Audience: Those who want to better understand their dreams and perhaps work with lucid dreaming
I’d been working to remember my dreams for a couple of decades when I found Robert Moss’ Conscious Dreaming: A Spiritual Path for Everyday Life. I’d looked at many books on dreaming and lucid dreaming and been sorely disappointed. What I didn’t want was a book that would tell me what my dreams meant. That, I knew only I could discover on my own. Also, I didn’t want another esoteric book on out of body experiences and astral projection, both of which never quite seem to work for me like the books say they ought. What I wanted was to learn Lucid Dreaming, or how to awaken within my dreams or become conscious within them, and to connect the wisdom of my dreams to my daily life. Moss delivered.
In the year after I first read Moss’s Conscious Dreaming, my dream recall improved significantly. I spent time working with the techniques and exercises he suggested, of course. I incorporated my own journey work and practices into what I learned from Moss’ work. I spent time meditating on and writing about the ideas and philosophies from Moss’ work. Some of the techniques Moss offers are ones I’d used for much of my life; for each of those I found deeper a understanding than I’d found on my own. In short, Conscious Dreaming set me on a journey that changed my skills and ultimately my life for the better.
One aspect I loved about Moss’ work is that it’s broken into smaller chunks, with exercises and practices that are manageable. It’s an easy read I often found hard to put down. That didn’t matter so much because it was also easy to mark bits I wanted to try and go back to try them after I’d finished reading the whole book. Years later, I’m still picking up my copy every now and then, perusing it, and stopping to read and then work with one or more of the practices Moss offers. If you want to take your dreaming to a whole new level, Conscious Dreaming: A Spiritual Path for Everyday Life by Robert Moss is an excellent vehicle for doing just that.
Bottom Line: Conscious Dreaming: A Spiritual Path for Everyday Life by Robert Moss has earned a permanent place on my bookshelf.
